This wasn’t the first time it happened. It happens occasionally when I don’t follow my evening routine. I woke up blind…calm down! Not medically blind, just unable to see 20/20 like I generally do. I could not find my glasses anywhere, so I had to go about my morning tasks half blind until I reached for my contacts. If you are four-eyed like me, you know exactly what I’m talking about. That feeling when you wake up and you can’t see, but you can’t find the tool that is needed for you to see! It’s literally so frustrating and disabling.
It’s not that I can’t function without my glasses, it’s just that simple tasks become more dangerous, tedious, arduous, and long. I can get myself together but in double the time.
As soon as I got the chance to wear my contacts and regained full vision, I realized that my glasses were never far to begin with.
You may be fortunate enough to have 20/20 vision naturally, but I think this experience is still applicable. How often do we go about life blind, lost and confused? It’s not that the tasks are too difficult or that the mountains are too high to climb over, it’s that we don’t wear the proper gear… we never put on our much-needed glasses.
I hate to break it to you, but you will not be able to achieve God’s best without Him. You cannot want God’s blessings without wanting God. Our generation loves fast reward; we want everything handed to us without doing the work.
Sis, if you want Godly results you need God!
You are called, you were created on purpose and for a purpose… you know this already, and if you don’t go check out the last post. But now that you know that you have a purpose and you might also know what your purpose is, understand that you will not get there properly without the help of God.
Equipping With God’s Armor
Life is not always as painful as we make it. Sometimes We crack the door open for Satan to dwell in our midst. We disobey God then ask Him “ Why is this happening to me!”, enough is enough. Let’s walk in purpose with the understanding that purpose cannot be met if we are not purposeful with our walks with Christ.
Without being equipped with God’s armor and guidance we fall short of excellence. We may even take longer to get to our destinations. Sometimes we arrive broken, stained, and hurt… of course God can renew us, but we save ourselves trouble when we walk on His narrow path.
Taking The Long Way
I’m reminded of the Israelites’ journey to the promise land. Scholars believe that this journey should have only taken 10 days, yet it took the Israelite 40 years!! 40 whole years!. It’s not so much that the terrain was tough, that the harvest was scarce, but that Israelites did not have faith in God’s promises.
Recall that the second Moses leaves the Israelites; they worship false gods and give sacrifices to these gods. “When the people saw that Moses was so long in coming down from the mountain, they gathered around Aaron and said, “Come, make us gods who will go before us. As for this fellow Moses who brought us up out of Egypt, we don’t know what has happened to him.” (Exodus 32:1)The Israelites turn their backs on God and consequentially were redirected from their route. Let’s learn from this lesson, and cling on to God’s covering. It will not take us 40 years to reach a destination that was meant to be reached in 10 days. Certain journeys are meant to be long and that’s ok, but many aren’t, our disobedience can be the catalyst for a slow paced journey.
Walking in obedience is not always easy but it is a command. “ If you love me, keep my commands” (John 14:15), it’s simple as that. We must obey, but we are weak so we must call unto God for help. We are guaranteed to win when we stay under God’s covering. Unfortunately, when we step out of it, we get hurt.
The bible promises us good gifts if we walk according to the Lord.
2 And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, if you obey the voice of the Lord your God. 3 Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the field. 4 Blessed shall be the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your ground and the fruit of your cattle, the increase of your herds and the young of your flock. 5 Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl. 6 Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.
7 “The Lord will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before you. They shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways. 8 The Lord will command the blessing on you in your barns and in all that you undertake. And he will bless you in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
9 The Lord will establish you as a people holy to himself, as he has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the Lord your God and walk in his ways. 10 And all the peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they shall be afraid of you. 11 And the Lord will make you abound in prosperity, in the fruit of your womb and in the fruit of your livestock and in the fruit of your ground, within the land that the Lord swore to your fathers to give you.
12 The Lord will open to you his good treasury, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season and to bless all the work of your hands. And you shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. 13 And the Lord will make you the head and not the tail, and you shall only go up and not down, if you obey the commandments of the Lord your God, which I command you today, being careful to do them, 14 and if you do not turn aside from any of the words that I command you today, to the right hand or to the left, to go after other gods to serve them. (Deuteronomy 28:2-14)
You have the assurance of reaching your destiny, but you must walk on the narrow path. Be very careful to wear your glasses or full armor of God as soon as you wake. Otherwise, a simple journey will become tedious, dangerous and long. You are a purposefully driven woman; a powerful tool for Christ. If you have not yet decided to walk your journey to greatness with the Lord, choose to do so today. Invite Jesus Christ into your home, plans, and decisions and watch him catapult you to your destination.
