13 Ways To Better Your Relationship With God

13 Ways To Better Your Relationship With God

After we give our life to Christ, there seems to be so many avenues we can take. It can get very fustrating, but we must learn key ways to grow our relationship with God. Here are some steps that should be taken to protect and enhance your relationship with Christ. These are not in order of importance.

13 Tips

  1. Get baptized by the Holy Spirit.
  2. Get water baptized.
  3. Find a mentor.
    • Find someone that will keep you in check, someone that will make sure that you are actively pursuing Christ and are not backsliding.
  4. Get to know your pastor(s) on a first name basis.
  5. Find friends that are pursuing Christ.
  6. Find a church home.
    • Don’t do what I did at the beginning of my walk and not go to church because you think you can do it on your own. YOU CAN’T. Church is a place of fellowship and growth.
    • Here is an article from Lifeasadare regarding this topic.
  7. Set a time for the Lord each day.
    • This can be 5 mins or even an hour. It doesn’t matter. Just make sure that you give the Lord time each day to replenish you. You cannot be righteous without the help of the Lord.
  8. Download YouVersion bible app.
    • This app is great, not only do you get access to many versions of the bible, but it also offers free devotionals.
  9. Get involved in church.
    • Don’t just go to church but build the church. Build an environment where people can encounter the Lord as you have.
  10. Start praying fervently.
    • “ Pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17)
  11. Join a University fellowship if you are a college student.
    • This gives you an opportunity to worship the Lord during the week. It is also a great place to meet new people and to learn how you can make a spiritual difference on your campus.
  12. Be patient.
    • Your walk is a beautiful journey, it wont always be roses and daisies, but that is ok. Be happy for the highs and lows.
  13. Take away anything that can cause you to stumble.
    • All those bad friends- “bye bye”
    • Stop watching those shows
    • Stop listening to that music
    • Break that relationship
      • “ And if your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off and throw it away. It is better for you to loose one part of your body than for your whole body to go into hell” (Matthew 5:30)

Stay blessed,

I LOVE THIS POST. Seriously, this is SO true.

Deciding to follow Christ does NOT end with saying the prayer–and I love what you said about needing to find a church. It is so true! This isn’t a walk we’re meant to walk alone.

    Great job on this one!
