I think it is important to bring up this idea of fear once again. Don’t fret; there is something fresh the Lord has for you. Miriam Webster defines fear as a state of being afraid of something or someone, of expecting or worrying about something bad or unpleasant, or being afraid and worried.
I am here to tell you today that fear is what is stopping you from being successful. Having fear and anxiety in your heart stops you from taking a leap of faith. Fear is literally the reason why we don’t leave our jobs, start that business, or leave that nonsense relationship or friendship . As humans, we naturally worry and have fear of the unknown. Not knowing the next step makes us uncomfortable and makes us feel weak. But the truth is, fear leaves no room for God to be God. Fear forces us to trust our own will and thoughts rather than that of God.
It is important to recognize that there are two types of fears, one is positive and the other one is negative. I call the good fear, purposeful fear; this is the type that we have for God. There are countless verses in the bible that ask man to fear the lord. “ Let all the earth fear the Lord; let all the inhabitants of the world stand in awe of him” Psalm 33.8, Godly fear is not frightening or dangerous, rather it is beneficial and pleasant.
As you fear the Lord, you live your life closer to what he has deemed good. Think about it this way, fearing your parents does not literally mean that you are scared of them, but that you respect them so much so that you act in their will. This is the same with God, fearing him means that we choose to live according to His words.
Fearing the Lord, purposeful fear, is the only fear we should ever have. As we fear the Lord, He gives us the strength to act in his ways. The Holy Spirit convicts us, disciplines us, and ensures that we walk on the path that God has created for us.
Let me ask you this how can you have fear in your heart when you know that God is good? How can you have fear in your heart when God is working out everything for your good? How can you have fear in your heart when He is for you? I know why! Because you are imperfect and we are all imperfect. BUT our imperfection does not mean we should live in the misery of fear. To be fearless, you have to believe the truths of God! Your issue isn’t fear, rather it is distrust. You don’t trust that God is really as good as He is; that He will give you a husband, give you that dream job, take care of your household, create a path and a way even before he calls you to it. Trust God and be fearless.
How To Be Fearless
Trust is one of the hardest things to do because it involves letting go and having faith. You will only get as far as your fears and your distrust. If you want to have the beautiful life that God has planned for you, you need to step out in faith. TODAY, cast out fear and ask God to help you trust Him. There is absolutely nothing God is withholding from you, there is nothing that God has called you to do that He hasn’t already equipped you for. God has already finished whatever he is about to start in your life.
Do not be like Moses; stop-questioning God, stop questioning whatever he has asked you to do that will need faith. If I continued to have fear, I would not be writing this post. Fear is not a fruit of the spirit; you are called to lbe fearless, full of faith. Surrender yourself to God, walk in boldness, and trust that He will make your path clear.
As we get closer to the New Year, don’t bring your bad habits over. It’s time that you allow God to work out whatever He said He would work out, it is time that you let go of that relationship, of that job. It is time that you start that ministry, that business, that small group. It’s time that you apply to that school, that internship, that fellowship. It’s time to walk out in faith and leave fear in behind. Let go and let God, be fearless.
Comment below and let me know what fear you are letting go of before the new year!
Take the time to pray this prayer and declare these words over your life.
Heavenly father, I pray against the burden of fear. Lord I pray that you will make your presence be known and that you will heal my heart. This is not an issue of fear, but much more an issue of distrust. Heavenly father, I am aware that you do not withhold anything from me, that as you are for me no one can be against me. Lord allow my knowledge to transcend into my heart and spirit. I don’t just want to know of your goodness, but to believe and experience it.
I pray in the name of Jesus that this feeling of fear and distrust will be cast away TODAY. Lord that I will not carry this burden into the new year. I will be fearless! Lord, as I pray this prayer you have already made a way for it, and I thank you for that. Thank you for setting me free, thank you for taking away my burden. Jesus I trust that you will protect me, guard my heart, protect my finances, protect my friendships, give me a good relationship, guard my household and my children, open doors that I cannot open for myself. Lord I trust you. Let me now live in the peace and joy that you have created for my life. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.
