Wow, I don’t really know how to start this post other than WOW. In the last 24 hours or so, the United States has been shaken to say the least. No matter where you stand on the spectrum, I think we can all say that these last 15 months or so have been hard, and the culmination was jaw dropping. I am not writing this post to share my views on the president-elects or the new president, I am here simply to urge us to unite under the name of Jesus.
In the last 24 hours alone, I have seen dozens of hateful comments from both sides of the fence. People are calling each other names, instilling fear and cursing. These posts and comments just go to show how much our country is in deep need for revival. Yes, maybe the election did not turn out the way you wanted it or maybe it did, but that does not give you any right to break down and to disrespect your neighbor…are we not all in this together? It sure doesn’t look like it.
As a nation, we need to decide whether we want to overcome, stay stagnant, or move forward. As a body of Christ, we need to seize the moment. Politics, although important should not be something that Christians fight about; knowing that Christ reigns over all. Our leader is not the President of the United States; our leader is God, so why are we loosing sleep when the true leader still reigns and will always reign. Titus 3:9 says to “ avoid foolish controversies, geanologies, dissensions, and quarrels about the law, for they are unprofitable and worthless” there is no practicality, love or growth in arguing. What is done is done, so lets use it to our advantage with the help of God.
Challenge to Love
What we need to do now is to focus on God and ask Him to guide us, the bible tells us that “ blessed is the nation who’s God is Lord”. The truth is that no matter who comes into power, no matter how nice they may be or how progressive they may be, our nation will not bear fruit if we don’t allow God to lead. Let’s see this elections and the aftermath of it as a sign that it is time for revival. I don’t know about you, but I will focus my time on leading people to Christ. Take the time to pray for our nation rather than create dissension.
I urge everyone; no matter how you may feel, to choose love and unity. The Lord has the ability to use absolutely anything and anyone to glorify His name. Next time you find the urge to post a comment that may create division, think twice. Use you tongue (or fingers) as a source of life rather than hatred.
May the Lord be with the United States of America, Amen
